- Get adequate insurance – medical facilities in Belize are limited.
Cases normally have to be referred to the US or neighbouring countries.
- Check the FCO Travel Advice.
- Bring enough money and do not flash your cash in public.
- Respect local laws and customs.
- Keep your belongings in a safe place. Use hotel safes where possible
and keep a copy of the data page of your passport separately.
- If you are taking prescribed medication bring an adequate supply and a
copy of your prescription.
- Leave a photocopy of your passport and itinerary with a contact in the
UK and if you are travelling for several months keep in contact with them.
- Check your passport: make sure it has more than six months validity
remaining and make sure you have signed it.
- Enter next of kin details into the back of your passport.
- Check whether visas or vaccinations are needed.
- Do not carry, purchase or take drugs.
